Residents Offered Rescue and CPR Training at Brownsville Save a Life Event
Brownsville officials want to make sure residents know the basics when it comes to first-aid.
Saturday, the Brownsville Public Health Department teamed up with Valley Regional Medical Center to host "Brownsville Save a Life".
The event offered hands-on choking and CPR training.
Brownsville City Commissioner, Jessica Tetreau-Kalifa said she put the plan into motion after she experienced a choking incident back in February.
"In that breath, in that second, I wanted to make sure that nobody else felt like CPR was not important," Tetreau-Kalifa said.
She added after her own experience, she realized how vital CPR and choking rescue is.
Tetreau-Kalifa hopes the training can save a life down the road.
