MCALLEN – McAllen Independent School District police apprehended a second student accused of making threats on social media.

In a statement issued out Friday afternoon, McAllen ISD notified the public of a threatening post, which was not directed to a specific campus.

They say the student later posted an apology and told them he didn’t intend going through with it.

The student was removed from campus and is in custody of McAllen ISD police.

On Thursday, another student was taken into custody for making a threat on social media.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS asked McAllen ISD's attorney if the students were allowed to go back in the classroom. The attorney responded saying, to his knowledge, the students were not in the classrooms on Friday.

However, he could not clarify if the student in Thursday's incident was allowed back into school.

The district also chose not to release what school the students attend; information that is releasable and not protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

We filed a Freedom of Information Act to get the information and to learn if the first student apprehended was allowed back in the classroom.

If he was, that appears to conflict with the district's policies.
