MCALLEN – This year will be 17 years since the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center towers in New York City.

A group in the Rio Grande Valley wants to make sure we do not forget the 343 firefighters who died that day.

About five years ago, the McAllen Stair Climb gathered 343 volunteers to climb the stairs at the Neuhaus Tower on 10th Street in McAllen to pay tribute to the fallen heroes.

The Neuhaus Tower has 17 floors. The World Trade Center towers had 110, so volunteers climb the stairs six and a half times.
