McALLEN - The Dallas Cowboys are star power across the state of Texas.  On Saturday, an active member of the team, wide receiver Lucky Whitehead, made a football camp appearance in the Valley.  CHANNEL 5's Brandon Ortega explains.

There are 57 days until the NFL season kicks off.  Today, a member of the Cowboys was in the Valley.  Wide receiver Lucky Whitehead appeared at a skills camp in McAllen.  Here's a look at Lucky at the Cavazos Sports Institute.  Campers were rocking their Cowboy blue shirts.  Children ages 8 to 12 took part in speed drills with the Cowboys receiver. No doubt  it was a great experience for the campers.

Whitehead talked with CHANNEL 5 SPORTS about the upcoming season.  "Build off of our last season you know. just to not let nothing outside of football knock us down.  It's amazing the chemistry we have with one another.  The young guys coming in.  Everyone is looking fresh and fast, so it's going to be fun. I want to have a breakout year as far as my return game. Just my vision,  Get my vision better and ball security, but I definitely need to get the ball in the end zone more."

The Cowboys kick off training camp July 24th in Oxnard, California.
