Austin, TX (KRGV) —  Democrat James Talarico is in the lead in the Texas race for U.S. Senate, unofficial results show.

Talarico is leading Republican Ken Paxton with nearly 3.5 million votes, or 58% of the ballots cast.

Paxton has 40% of the votes, or nearly 2.4 million ballots.

An estimated 57% of votes have been counted, according to the Associated Press, which has not called a winner yet.
