PENITAS – Though it’s always been seen as a rural city, Penitas has tripled its growth within the last two years.

In March, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Medical School opened a student-run clinic in Penitas.

Medical students will run the clinic every third Saturday of the month offering a variety of health services.

Penitas Mayor Rigo Lopez believes the clinic is a reflection just how fast the city is growing.

As for the students, they are grateful for being able to gain experience in the medical field as well as bringing the much needed services to the community.
