Weslaco Fire Leaves 3 Families Displaced

UPDATE (5 p.m.): The Red Cross is now assisting the three families displaced by the apartment fire. 

The Weslaco fire chief tells us 31 firefighters fought the heavy smoke and flames. 

The cause is still under investigation.

WESLACO – A fire in a Weslaco apartment left three families displaced.

The Weslaco Fire Chief, Antonio Lopez, tells us the incident happened at around 11:50 a.m. at the 2400 block of Melissa Street.

One person was inside during the fire; there were no reported injuries.

A resident tells us she and her three daughters managed to escape the fire.

The case is still under investigation.
