2 Crashes Along Hwy 77 Pushes Back Traffic at Cameron-Willac
UPDATE (3/19): All surviving victims of a deadly head-on crash in Willacy County are out of the hospital.
A 74-year-old woman driving the wrong way on US 77 died after impacting her car with another vehicle.
DPS continues to investigate.
NEAR SEBASTIAN – Emergency crews responded Friday to two crashes north of Willacy County.
The first accident involving multiple vehicles along US 77 was reported around 2 p.m. and left several people injured.
Hours later, a second crash reportedly claimed the life of one victim.
Authorities say a black Ford Focus was heading south in the northbound lanes near Sebastian when it collided with another vehicle.
The driver of the Ford Focus, 74-year-old Consuelo Villarreal Gonzalez, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger is being treated at an area hospital.
The woman driving the other vehicle, and her 6-month-old baby, were also transported to a hospital.
