Edinburg CISD working to fill 45 open staff positions

With weeks left to go before the new school year, school districts like the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District are working to fill teacher vacancies.
Edinburg CISD currently has 45 open positions
"We had 100 plus teachers retire this year, it was a little higher than normal." Edinburg CISD Superintendent Mario Salinas said.
Marsha Gonzalez, president of Edinburg's American Federation Of Teachers, explained in a statement, that pay and workload are some factors driving teachers away from the profession as a whole
Salinas said he's confident all positions will be filled before the start of the new school year.
