FEMA Representative Advises to Appeal if Denied for Assistance

WESLACO – There is less than a month before the deadline to apply for FEMA assistance in the Rio Grande Valley.

Don’t disqualify yourself and don’t take matters into your own hands if you don’t have to.

Just because your initial application was denied doesn’t mean you won’t get any help.

A FEMA spokesperson explained how to get the most help possible.

He says to do the following:

  • Make a claim with your insurance first, then after the make a determination, present it to FEMA.
  • If you live in a flood zone, you have to be in compliance with county ordinances.
  • If you’re denied, you can file an appeal.

You have three chances to file an appeal with the agency.
