House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Makes Visit to McAllen
MCALLEN- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made a visit to the Rio Grande Valley Sunday, following a trip to Central America.
She was joined by a congressional delegation at the Sacred Heart Respite Center.
Pelosi addressed a recent ICE raid at a Mississippi food plant.
680 people were arrested in that operation, most of them Hispanic.
Pelosi said the raid is another example of families being divided.
"The immigration issue has been used in a way that is beneath the dignity of our country and denies the recognition that we are a nation of immigrants," said Pelosi.
Acting Homeland Security Secretary, Kevin McAleenan said the raids had been planned for over a year, but he regretted the timing.
