HEBBRONVILLE – Officials from Jim Hogg County say they are spending more money for asylum seekers and illegal immigration.

County Judge Juan Carlos Guerra says too many asylum seekers are going to his county jail.

Guerra explains asylum seekers are using the sheriff's office and jail to take showers.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached out to the Sheriff's Deputy Sergeant Luis Rodriguez who showed us their facility.

“We bring them over in here this is where we shower, they got a sink access to a toilet as well as a shower with hot and cold water," says Rodriguez.

Guerra adds crime has increased and they need more Border Patrol agents; many of them are being sent to the border.

The county judge says between the inmates and asylum seekers they've spent as much as $1,200 in just one week.
