Jay Leno to Make Appearance for STARS Scholarship Event
MCALLEN – The STARS Scholarship Fund said Jay Leno will perform at their 14th Annual STARS Extravaganza.
The event will be held at the McAllen Performing Arts Center on March 16.
All of the proceeds raised from the concert will go towards scholarships for local Rio Grande Valley students looking to further their education.
“It’s very important because over 90 percent are first in their family to go to college. Many of them are just trying to make it and having to work and go to school so the more we can do for them, the better it is,” STARS Scholarship Fund Director Val Lamantia said.
Lamantia said they raised nearly $28 million in scholarship money over the 13 years, which helped more than 13,000 local Rio Grande students go to colleges all across the U.S.
Tickets will go on sale Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. They will range from $35-$85.
