Friday is the last day for a charter school in McAllen.
Quest Collegiate Academy was opened in 2021 by a non-profit organization called Responsive Ed.
In a statement, Quest Collegiate Academy cited low student enrollment as the reason for the school's closure.
The school says they only had 82 students registered for the next school year, and they need at least 200 students to cover annual expenses.
The campus notified parents about the closure on Wednesday, May 15, just two weeks before the school closes.
Some parents told Channel 5 News they wish they were told about the closure sooner.
“How are we going to find a new school that we are comfortable sending our kids to in such little notice,” Natalie Jalomo said.
The last day for the school's 16 employees will be Thursday, Aug. 1. Their benefits will run until the end of August.
