RAYMONDILLE – An ongoing road improvement project in Raymondville is reportedly behind schedule.

Phase one of the project to improve old roads on the west side of town began in November.

The first phase of the project was slated to be completed in March.

The second phase is set to begin in the summer.

Raymondville code enforcement officer, Andres Chavez, says the project will have a total cost of $2.5 million.

"Phase one is a little bit, maybe, we're talking about maybe a week or two behind. The only reason is because of the weather…you cannot pave during certain conditions; weather conditions, so that delays some of the paving," says Chavez.

Chavez says he believes phase one of the project will be completed in three weeks to a month.
