Valley Flood Victim Hopes Officials are Making Preparations for Future Storms

WESLACO – Everytime it rains, a Weslaco resident worries she could be reliving June's flood event all over again.
Two months later, the Salazar family are on their way to restoring and improving everything.
But with every sign of rainfall, they want to make sure the city, county and Texas Department of Transportation are also making changes.
"You think, is it going to happen again? Am I going to lose everything again? Is anybody going to listen?" says Mary Salazar.
Even the slightest hint of rain brings back bad memories.
Salazar was left with standing water in her home for days.
According to her, the county and city said they couldn't help because she lived off a TxDOT road.
TxDOT blocked the street from traffic, but couldn't pump out the water at the time.
