MISSION – After a year, a woman grieving the loss of her husband finally received his death certificate last week.

Avis Hedin’s husband passed away in Jan. 2019. She says she had paid Elizondo Mortuary and Cremation Service in Mission for 20 copies of the death certificate. Multiple mistakes were printed on it, making the grieving process even more difficult.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reported about Hedin’s situation back in August. She learned she could file an amendment form instead of waiting for the mortuary.

Hedin paid more money and mailed the amendment to the Texas Department of State Health Services in Austin.

Nearly five months later, she received her husband’s death certificate on his one-year anniversary of his passing.
