Woman Concerned after Finding Personal Information Exposed on County Website
WESLACO – Hundreds of names, social security numbers and other personal information are available through a Hidalgo County website.
Hidalgo County Clerk Arturo Guajardo Jr. says there are more than a billion images of records on the county's website today, which include criminal, civil and land records.
Guajardo explains state law requires his office make public information available, including social security numbers, at the county's discretion.
We spoke with a woman who is concerned about her information being made public.
Her social security number, along with her address, date of birth, signature, even height and eye color was all found on the same web page.
KRGV’s Trason Bragg headed to the Hidalgo County Clerk’s office to find out more.
