19 People Detained by Border Patrol Following Apartment Raid in Edinburg
EDINBURG – An immigration raid leads to a number of questions in Edinburg.
Authorities say the immigrants were found in a two bedroom apartment. No food was in the refrigerator and just a few possessions were found lying about the unit.
The raid happened Monday around 4 p.m.
Border Patrol detained 19 people who they suspect were in the country illegally.
Federal agents were assisted by the Hidalgo County Pct. 4 Constable's Office.
A person who tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS she supervises the complex says the apartment was rented by a couple.
"Normally, it's my job and I rented it but I didn't even know what was going on there. That's not my job to check who rents it, who's in there, who lives there," said Donna Tamez, the apartment complex supervisor.
Border Patrol is leading the investigation.
