2 Edinburg CISD schools placed on brief lockdown following reports of possible weapon
Two Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District schools were placed on a brief lockdown due to an investigation of a possible weapon at one of the campuses.
According to a news release from Edinburg CISD, the investigation of a possible weapon occurred at Robert Vela High School. Longoria Middle School was placed on a brief lockdown "out of an abundance of caution" as a result of the investigation.
Edinburg CISD police were already at the high school and investigated the incident immediately but found no weapon on campus, according to the news release.
The release said the lockdowns have since been lifted and classes have resumed their normal schedule. All students and staff are safe.
