2 McAllen Employees Facing Assault Charges

MCALLEN – A police officer was suspended without pay after an assault incident over the weekend, according to the McAllen Police Department.

Brianda Gabriela Arratia, an employee of the city of McAllen, and McAllen police officer Micheal Basaldu were charged with assault.

Arratia and Basaldu face disciplinary investigations after an incident early Saturday morning. They were allegedly dating.

The department said Basaldu was placed on suspension without pay.

A judge set a bond of $5,000 each.
