MISSION – Bentsen State Park says they could lose their property if the government moves forward with its plans to create a border wall.

The donors of the 766-acre park intended for the park to be used without interruption.

Texas Parks and Wildlife staff says a 9,000-foot border fence through the park would be a big problem.

The Bentsen family donated 586 of these acres to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the opening of the ‘World Birding Center’.

One of the conditions for this was that the park be open and accessible or else the park loses the property.

KRGV’s Christian von Preysing reports from Bentsen State Park with the details.
