EDINBURG - A convicted sex offender and a man with history of crime were both arrested this week as they tried to make their way into the United States illegally. Border Patrol agents assigned to the McAllen Station arrested a Mexican national who had a criminal history which included an arrest in Indiana for sexual battery. The man spent two and a half years in confinement after being found guilty of the charges in October 2015.
Agents made a separate arrest of an adult male Guatemalan national in Brownsville. The man was taken back to a Border Patrol station for processing when a records check revealed the man had been previously arrested on a number of charges, including child abuse with intent to torture, cruel beating and inhuman punishment.
