MISSION – The Patriot nation was all in for Saturday’s game at the Alamodome. As Mission Veterans scored touchdown after touchdown, Anna Navarro was busy waving the Patriots’ flag.

“It felt fantastic,” said Navarro. “ I felt so proud of them.”

It’s not her job. Her actual job is teaching biology, forensics, and geo science.

But at football games, she’s got a pep in her step as the Patriots’ flag bearer.

Navarro has been at Mission Veterans since the school opened. While she admits, she doesn’t know much about football, she still loves to be a part of the game.

“This is the apex, the climax of their whole entire progress,” said Navarro.

After every score, Navarro runs up and down the sideline with her flag.

When the team’s averaging 48 points a game, that’s a lot of running.

“I tell them that I haven’t gone to Zumba and that I need my exercise so that they better give me a good exercise,” said Navarro.

The Mission Veterans teacher says it’s all worth it when she sees how football can bring so many people together.

“I just see them all emotional, all yelling, and then I take off,” said Navarro.
