CDC updates COVID-19 testing guidelines
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently released new guidance for COVID-19 testing.
People without symptoms don't necessarily need a COVID-19 test, even if they've been exposed to someone with the virus.
Dr. Emilie Prot, the Texas Department of State Health Services regional medical director for Public Health Region 11, said public health officials update their advice when they receive new information.
Prot said people who believe they need a COVID-19 test should still request one.
