LA VILLA – City leaders in La Villa say a new county drainage ditch saved their town from almost any damage during the June floods.

The giant drainage ditch is just a small improvement from the Delta Area Connector/East Lateral Drainage Outfall System project facilitated by Hidalgo County.

A resident says the renovation made all the difference between this year’s storms and what La Villa saw in the past with storms.  

The city manager for La Villa says about five homes suffered flood damage.

He says next comes drainage renovation and development around the city.
