BROWNSVILLE – Local doctors are providing health screenings to immigrants at the Good Neighbor Settlement House in Brownsville.

The doctors are volunteering to help reduce hospital visits for the community and the new immigrants coming in.

Valley Baptist emergency room doctor Kazim Hussain says they are evaluating many immigrants who are either dropped off by the government or picked up from the bus station.

KRGV’s Angelo Vargas toured the Good Neighbor Settlement House with the director, Jack White.

White says he remodeled the facility to accommodate the crowds; he says so far they’ve served more than 2,000 people.
