Driver Found with Apparent Gunshot Wound Dies En Route to Hospital
EDINBURG – Edinburg police are at the scene of a homicide investigation near the Hidalgo County Courthouse.
The driver of the vehicle, found with an apparent gunshot wound, died while being transported to the hospital.
Assistant Chief Oscar Trevino said officers responded to 10th and McIntyre Street around 4:30 Monday afternoon. He said the driver of a white car, a 27-year-old man from Edinburg, jumped a curb and hit a utility pole.
Officers found the driver who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance but died on the way.
Police said no shooting has been confirmed.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
