Edinburg, TX (KRGV) — Edinburg is getting a new campsite at Edinburg Municipal Park, near the Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium.

The campsite will be located near the trail and will include a gated area with spaces families can reserve.

"We're going to have some benches here, a fire pit, a couple of barbecue pits as well, some lighting for the evenings, a lot of benches, and it's a large enough area so you can hang out with family," Edinburg Parks and Recreation Director Javier Garza said.

The campsite is expected to open in January 2027.

Overnight camping will not be available at the site for now. The city may look into overnight camping at a later time.
