WESLACO – How long can a person carry the coronavirus (COVID-19)? What symptoms should people be looking for? How much worse is going to get, before it gets better?

Dr. Simone Wildes, an infectious disease specialist, has treated patients with life threatening infections, ranging from HIV to Lyme disease.

The doctor mentioned in an interview with CHANNEL 5 NEWS, the biggest challenge is the testing.

Even with patients showing the symptoms – fever, shortness of breath, severe cough and body aches – medical experts were not sure until they get approval from the state to test for COVID-19. That was last week.

On Friday, President Donald Trump issued a declaration national emergency to speed up testing.
