Fire at Valley High School Stadium Cause Thousands in Damages

MCALLEN – Vandalism at a Rio Grande Valley high school caused thousands of dollars in damages.

It happened at Boxer Hernandez Stadium at McAllen Memorial High School. A fire broke out Sunday night.

According to the McAllen ISD, the fire caused about $80,000 worth of damage and was a result of arson.

McAllen ISD officials said their police department received a call about the fire around 10:00 p.m. The fire occurred in the pole vault practice area, damaging the pole vault landing cushion, the surrounding field turf and about four lanes of the track.
