Harlingen Resident Wants Oversized Dining Table Exchanged

HARLINGEN - A Rio Grande Valley couple said replacing a dining room set has added up to a big headache.

Harlingen resident Rosalinda Sanchez and her husband occasionally rearrange the setup of their home. She said they recently decided to get a new dining set.

The couple went to Conn’s in Harlingen and bought a matching set over the weekend. Sanchez said they spotted a problem as soon as the items were delivered.

“We had the measurement, it was not larger than 70 inches,” she said.

Sanchez said the table was too big for their dining room. She visited the store to exchange it for a smaller one.

“Some guy told us, ‘Oh there’s no problem. You have the paper and everything,’” she said. “Ten minutes later, the guy came back and said, ‘No, I’m sorry there’s no exchange.”

CHANNEL 5 NEWS visited the store. The general manager for Conn’s said signs at the entrance alert people of their no-return policy. He said customers also receive a pamphlet after their purchase.

The general manager said Sanchez can contact corporate headquarters. He said they are the only ones that can override their existing policies.

Sanchez said she will make the call and try to swap out the furniture.
