'I'm left with nothing:' Brownsville woman speaks out after her car was set on fire
A Brownsville woman said she is living in fear after someone intentionally set her car on fire on Saturday.
The fire happened Saturday at around 3 a.m. at the Rancho Cielo Apartments, located at the 3300 block of McAllen Road.
“I’m left with nothing,” Eunice Trejo said.
Trejo said she’s lived at the apartment complex for two years with her three children, but they no longer feel safe there.
“I'm in fear, I fear for my life,” Trejo said. “My kids are traumatized."
Surveillance video provided by the Brownsville Police Department shows someone wearing a hoodie walk to Trejo's car and appearing to put something on the vehicle right before a burst of flames appeared.
Trejo said losing her only vehicle makes daily life even harder.
“I'm still trying to process all of this because it's my only vehicle, it's my way of taking my kids to the doctor in any emergency whenever they're sick, or to school,” Trejo said.
Trejo added that she’s worried that the fire may have been caused by someone she knows.
“It could have been anybody else's car, but they came directly to mine,” Trejo said.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Brownsville Crime Stoppers at 956-546-8477.
