Knapp, UTRGV Unveils Preview of Family Practice Residency Program
MERCEDES – A preview and a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Thursday morning for the new Knapp Medical Center/UTRGV Family Practice Residency Program.
The residency partnership will be located in a new 13,800-square foot building in the northwest corner of Expressway 83 and North Mile 2 West Road, on the western edge of Mercedes.
Six new family practice residents will form the first cohort of inaugural graduate medical education program.
The residents will be able to see patients at a new clinic, expected to open in late August in the Family Practice Residency building, under the direction of Dr. Miguel Tello, associate program director of the Knapp Medical Center/UTRGV Family Practice Residency Program.
Rene J. Lopez, CEO of Knapp Medical Center, said in a press release, the program represents an expansion of medical education into the mid-Valley.
