Man arrested after cocaine found inside Brownsville home
Brownsville, TX (KRGV) — The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 52-year-old man on a cocaine charge after investigators found more than 300 grams of cocaine at a Brownsville home, according to a press release.
The sheriff’s office identified the man as Gerardo Sandoval Martinez, who was in the country illegally.
The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit searched a home in the 2100 block of Autumn Sage Street on Thursday. Investigators found cocaine in bulk form and in individually packaged clear baggies inside a closet.
Investigators also found resin statues and other items the sheriff’s office said matched cult practices. The release said investigators arranged those items around the cocaine in a display like a shrine.
Investigators seized about 266 grams of cocaine and 35 grams of crack cocaine.
Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Border Patrol assisted the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office during the operation.
