McAllen Police Investigating Overnight Shooting
MCALLEN – The McAllen Police Department is investigating a shooting that sent one woman to the hospital.
McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez said they received a call about shots fired Monday night near the 5900 block of South 26th Lane. Police investigating the incident discovered casings in the area.
Officers learned a man drove a woman with a gunshot wound to a hospital. The man told officers that he was with his wife in his vehicle in the area of Ware Road and Expressway 83, when they were fired at and she was struck.
According to police, the man later admitted to officers the shooting didn’t occur in the area of the expressway but in the area of South 26th.
The man was detained for a false report and for possession of a controlled substance. He is pending arraignment sometime this week.
The police officers are continuing their investigation.
