Possible Lead on Self-Identified Dementia Woman
EDINBURG – Edinburg Regional Medical Center staff may have a possible lead into the identity of an elderly dementia patient.
The woman calling herself “Maria Barrera” was brought in to the hospital in March.
She was disoriented and anemic. Staff soon discovered that she suffered from dementia.
Cari Lambrecht from South Texas Health Systems said this is a very rare circumstance.
The hospital is doing an exhaustive search to find out more on the elderly woman.
Lambrecht said that have finger-printed Barrera and still nothing has come up.
Even with the clues and phone calls, the only lead they have been able to retrieve so far is a missing woman from San Antonio. Her name is Maria Llamas.
Lambrecht added that they have been contacted by the San Antonio Police Department.
“We’ve gotten a call from San Antonio P.D., that is working on that missing persons case to maybe take more finger prints and run from Mrs. Llamas,” said Lambrecht.
The family of Llamas from San Antonio is unsure if this is their family member. STHS is following up with all leads.
