Rio Grande City providing wastewater service to hundreds of homes
Rio Grande City is expanding its wastewater lines into more neighborhoods.
Six colonias on the west side of town will soon be connected to the lines. There are about 400 homes in those areas.
The project will cost about $8 million, and the Texas Water Development Board is providing some of the funding.
“These families are going to be able to enjoy this service without worrying about cleaning a septic tank,” Rio Grande City Manager Gilberto Millan said.
The city is also expanding the sewer plant to handle the demand. Construction is set to begin early 2026.
