MERCEDES --- The mother of one-month-old at the center of an Hidalgo County investigation is facing capital murder charges. 
     HCSO originally called the investigation an 'equivocal death of infant,' meaning the cause of death was undetermined. HCSO public information officer Jena Palacios told CHANNEL 5 NEWS said investigators were unsure if the cause of death was natural, intentional, or accidental. 
     CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke to man who lives near the scene of the crime.
     "It's sad that something like that happens," said Francisco Cabriales Castillo. "It feels like family because you know, we're neighbors." 
      Palacios told our Ryan Nelson earlier this afternoon investigators questioned the parents of the infant. Palacios also said HCSO was in the process of contacting the justice of the peace and requesting an autopsy. 
     The mother of the one month old female infant will be formally arraigned Sunday morning. You can count on CHANNEL 5 NEWS to bring you the latest in this story as it develops.
