Three-Year-Old Run Over by Truck in Stable Condition

UPDATE (3/28): CHANNEL 5 NEWS learned the 3-year-old little girl was actually run over by the vehicle.

Cameron County Park Rangers Chief of Police Horacio Zamora said the toddler is currently being treated at a San Antonio hospital.

She is listed in stable condition.

NEAR SOUTH PADRE ISLAND - A 3-year-old is recovering after being hit by a pickup truck on South Padre Island.

The incident happened around 4:30 Sunday one mile north of Beach Access 5.

Cameron County Park Chief Horacio Zamora said a 31-year-old female was driving the Ford pickup truck. She stopped to render aid after the accident.

“The child was airlifted to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. The last I heard was that she was in stable condition and possibly being taken to San Antonio for a fractured pelvis,” he said.

Police conducted a Breathalyzer test and voluntary blood sample on the woman. The results showed no trace of alcohol.

No charges have been filed.
