Trial Reset for Man Accused in Expressway Shooting Case
DONNA – A murder trial was reset for a man accused of shooting another man in the head while he was driving along the expressway.
Benito Hernandez Ovalle is charged with criminal attempted murder, criminal attempted capital murder and murder.
The charges stem from an incident that happened late last year.
Donna police said Hernandez Ovalle shot Pedro Lopez Morales in the head while he was driving along the expressway.
Morales wound up crashing his vehicle along eastbound frontage near Hutto Road. He later died in the hospital.
Records show Hernandez Ovalle was ordered to be deported by a judge three times.
