MCALLEN – As doctors expect the number of confirmed coronavirus cases to grow in the Rio Grande Valley, the supply of medical protective equipment continues to drop.

The Hidalgo-Starr County Medical Society is looking for personal protective equipment (PPE). Hospitals in the Valley have entered in conservation mode for the equipment, because of a shortage.

The organization will take donations April 1 and April 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its office on 1910 South 1st Street in McAllen. They’re in need of N95 masks, surgical masks, gowns, disposable gloves and face shields.
