Valley Teen Shot While on School Playgrounds Graduates High School
EDINBURG – A Rio Grande Valley native and victim of an accidental shooting nearly seven years ago continues to recover.
In 2011, he was playing basketball in Edinburg when a bullet ripped through him.
Nicholas Tijerina, then 13 years old, was left paralyzed from the waist down.
The now high school graduate says he prepared for months to walk across the stage to receive his diploma.
KRGV’s Sierra Pizarro spoke to him about how he overcame this experience.
