KRGV-TV5 in Weslaco, Texas has the following vacancy:

KRGV-TV, the ABC affiliate in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, is currently seeking: Sports MMJ/Anchor.

We are looking for someone who isn’t just regurgitating highlights, we want perspectives, analysis and points of view on all things sports, especially when it comes to local sports coverage.

High school football is the dominant sport in the market as well as across the state. We are looking for a dynamic on-air personality who can bring it when it comes to our coverage of high school, college and local pro-sports such as USL soccer and G-League basketball.

We’re seeking an independent, innovative storyteller who can shoot, write, edit, report, anchor and produce memorable content across all platforms.

This is a Full Time position.

Responsibilities

·         Develop story ideas, write, shoot and edit for TV, website, apps, Twitter, and Facebook

·         Produce sports content that stands out from the norm

·         Write and present in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner

·         Develop original local sports content through social media and independent sources.

·         Develop sources and build relationships with players and coaches that allow you to break stories and create enterprise content

·         Have a strong, active social media presence.

·         Own sports news across all platforms, collaborating with TV producers and digital editors, including Facebook Lives, digital articles, and video packages.

·         Flexibility to cover stories on various days of the week and tie topically to sport events, including weekends

·         Perform other tasks as required by the News and Sports Director

 

Requirements:

·         BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field

·         1-2 years of experience preferred

·         Experience in photojournalism, editing, and social media platforms

·         A demo reel with examples of television sports reporting and anchoring

·         Ability to generate creative, engaging, content, both live and recorded

·         Knowledge of ENPS, Edius editing software a plus

·         Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines

·         Ability to calmly handle live, breaking sports news situations and changing events

·         Bilingual in Spanish a plus
