A 39-acre nature park is now open in Olmito.
The grand opening for the park, located on Hayes Road near the Lake Olmito resaca, was held on Saturday. Some of the features include nature trails, fishing piers, wildlife viewing areas and a playground.
The first phase of the park cost $6.5 million. Cameron County used funds from multiple organizations to pay for it.
There are still two other phases left for the park, which is expected to be fully completed next year.
