NEAR LOS FRESNOS – Dry conditions and hot catalytic converters are fueling dangerous situations.

Officials say at least 10 acres of ranchland burned Wednesday after a running vehicle was left parked on dry grass and generated enough heat to spark a fire.

According to a spokeswoman with the Texas Animal Health Commission, staff was in the area conducting routine cattle fever tick surveillance.

Officials with the Brownsville Fire Department say although fighting the fast-burning fire in the extreme heat was a challenge, no one was injured.

KRGV’s Daisy Martinez spoke with the fire chief deputy who says it doesn’t take much for something like this to happen.
