"Just by the display of how many people are here in attendance today shows how great of a leader he was to the community, to his department, to his family, and the impact he had on everybody he met," Edinburg Fire Department Lt. Octaviano Hernandez said.

Chief Snider served the city of Edinburg for more than three decades, first joining the Edinburg Fire Department back in 1991.

His passion and dedication to the job helped him quickly climb the ladder, and he was named chief just eight years after joining the department.

Snider is remembered not only as a role model, but as a man who put others before himself.

His legacy of courage and service stretched far beyond the frontline.

To give the Edinburg Fire Department the opportunity to show support for the chief and his family, fire departments across the Rio Grande Valley rallied together to cover their post.

"Chief Snider is an individual who had a positive impact on many people. Not just on individuals careers, but individuals private lives [and] personal lives. He was a very personable individual, somebody that was always available to listen and provide any feedback any input any advice," McAllen Interim Fire Chief Juan Gloria said.

A celebration of life, for a man who dedicated his life to service. A legacy that will live on beyond the last call.
