WESLACO - As thousands of immigrants arrive, Customs and Border Protection are depending on additional services.

Additional CBP officers, military personnel, and now FEMA have come together to lend a hand to agents across the Rio Grande Valley sector.

A spokesman for FEMA says they will be sending small technical assistance teams who will conduct assessments and identify areas to enhance capacity buildings.

Military personnel continue to be active in the Valley.

A spokesman for the U.S. Army says they assisted CBP to add concertina wire at ports-of-entry as well.

CBP agents are considering the influx of immigrants a policy crisis and are seeking additional funding to help with the increased cost of handling thousands of immigrants.
