San Benito CISD Employee Facing Child Pornography Charges Suspended
BROWNSVILLE – A San Benito school district employee went before a federal judge Wednesday after being arrested for child pornography.
According to court documents, Phillip Lopez went before a federal judge to make his case that he’s not a flight risk and will appear in court to face the legal process of the charges against him.
Court documents state Lopez owns three computers, all of which he allegedly used to download child pornography.
A San Benito CISD spokeswoman sent us the following statement, which reads in part:
“San Benito CISD officials were notified of an incident involving the arrest of an employee last week. The employee in question was placed on immediate suspension and the district will take appropriate action once the investigation is complete.”
She could not comment further because the case is still under investigation.
The judge set Lopez’s bond at $100,000 with several conditions to ensure he returns to court.
