San Benito Veteran Receives Help with Video Hearing
SAN BENITO – A San Benito veteran was struggling with contacting the Veterans Affairs to switch his video hearing from Houston to Harlingen.
Alfredo Lopez said he was able to get his video hearing with a judge in Harlingen. He said he wants other veterans to understand that help is out there.

He said it took him years to schedule his conference.
“So happy about that because if I didn’t have my appointment at that time, I don’t know how long I’d have to wait again. It took me quite a while, three or four years to get it again,” Lopez said.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached out to Veterans Affairs. They told us that they started veteran video conferences back in March 2015.
VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Public Affairs Officer Reynaldo Leal said a veteran is given the option to move their hearing to the Valley.
They have to wait for their hearing date and the time is established by the presiding court.
